Bricks and Windows Sunny Side Looming Blue Print
I shot these photos of a building on U of M campus. For the first two photos I really liked how the sun lit up certain places of the building. I stood far away from the building and got the upper portion of the building in the shot to convey the details of the windows and archways. For the third photo I stood much closer to the building and shot upward, to convey how it looks like it's "looming" over the viewer. It was difficult to not get any trees in these photos, but I did get some red leaves in the shot in the first photo, however I thought it didn't take too much attention away from the architecture.
Looking Up Bell Tower Bell Tower Blue Print
For this location I took pictures of the Burton Memorial Tower on Central Campus. For the first photo I stood very close to the base of the tower and shot upward to convey the height of the tower. For the second photo I stood farther away and shot just the upper portion of the tower, I think this photo conveys the details of the architecture of the tower. For the third photo I stood on the top of a parking garage nearby to get the straight on perspective. I think it conveys the idea that a lot of work was put into designing the tower, especially since the blueprint effect brings out all the lines and edges.
Modern Modern Sideways Modern Windows
I took these photos of the Ann Arbor City Hall. For the first two pictures I stood below and shot upwards. I wanted to convey contrast in textures used to construct the building, the smooth windows compared to the ridges in the wall panels. In the third photo I zoomed in to get a closer looks at the vertical windows and horizontal railing. I wanted to convey how by getting a new perspective in this image looks like it could be something else, like fences on floor panels instead of the side of a building.
Sculpture Black and Blue Black and Blue Print
I took these photos of a sculpture that is right outside of No Thai. For all of the photos I stood under the sculpture in different places and shot upwards. I wanted to convey that simply by moving around the base of the sculpture I can get multiple different looking angles. I could only shoot the upper portion of the sculpture because if I went any lower there would be trees and other building in the shot, and I wanted the main focus to be on the sculpture. I also think the way the sun hits differently on the sculpture and the blue of the sky in the first two photos make it look more defined and powerful.
Lamps Blue Print Building Window
I took these photos of the Washtenaw County Administration Building, and I stood near the base of the building and shot upwards. It was difficult to not get distracting trees in the photos, but for two of the photos I managed to crop them out. For the first photo I wanted to convey the way the calm tones of the building look against the bold sky. In the second photo I wanted to convey the interesting lines and shapes the blue print effect makes on the image. In the third photo I wanted the viewer to notice details like the beautiful reflection of the sky and tree in the window.
