Control/Release Invisible Force |
Compare & Contrast: A difference between the images is that mine doesn't have an arm sticking out of the wall/sheet, I couldn't find a way to incorporate that into the photo. A similarity is that in both of them the hand is in a claw - like position. Another difference is that in mine the arm and face aren't as prominent as the original.
Artist Statement: To recreate this image I had my parents hold a sheet up and my sister put her face against it. I didn't include the bare arm, as my photoshop skills are not to that level and I couldn't cut a hole in the sheet. It was very difficult to prevent wrinkles in the sheet. In photoshop I tried to tint the photo to give it that "old" look. I wanted to convey mystery and forces/things that are invisible to us. |
The Sky is Burning Painting the Sky |
Compare & Contrast: A similarity is that in both images the woman is holding a paint can and a paint brush. However, in mine they don't have red paint on them. Another difference is that there isn't any movement in her dress or hair like in the original.
Artist Statement: For this recreation I had my sister model and then transferred her into a background I photoshopped. The final image turned out very blurry, although each separate piece was in focus and clear. I tried to have a fan blow her hair to create movement, but it didn't make an effect. To create the final image I pieced together many different photos, the sunset, the red streak of paint, the ground, and the girl were all separate photos. I wanted to convey a feeling of loneliness and self discovery. |
Brighter Days Reaching High |
Compare & Contrast: A difference between the photos is that in mine the sheet does not show a blue sky with clouds, it's just white. Another different is that in the original the dress is long and flowing to one side, and in mine the dress is shorter and still. A similarity is that they both have a stormy sky and blue field.
Artist Statement: For this photo my parents held up a sheet for my sister to hold on too. Unfortunately, the sheet wasn't very long, so I had to crop the photo to where the sheet ended. I pieced together the rest of the final photo from multiple images. I first put the stormy background and the bleu field together and then added the woman with the sheet and the crates. For this image I wanted to convey a feeling of working hard to change something when nobody else is, the woman is trying to change things on her own. |
