Cup Stack |
For this photo I took six plastic cups and stacked them on top of each other. The cups are all beautiful vibrant colors, so it was difficult to choose which one I wanted to color. I think this image represents friends. It shows how they are holding each other up. I used a white styrofoam board and wood floors for a non - distracting background. |
For this photo I used my ukulele as a pop of color. It was difficult to get it to balance on its side but eventually I managed to get the shot. I wanted this image to convey the happiness of the color against the boring black and white background. Since Summer is on its way this image conveys happy vibes and sun. Out of all my photos this one is my favorite! |

Succulent in a Pail |
I took this photo of a fake succulent that I put in a small bucket a while ago. Since the plant has a red-ish purple-ish tinge to it's leaves I wasn't sure if I should not paint over those parts in photoshop or not. I decided to include them in the pop of color because otherwise the leaves didn't look right. It was difficult to color in just the leaves and not get any of the inside of the pail, since it's pink. I wanted to convey tranquility and calming feelings with the earthy tones of the leaves and lines in the wood. |
For this photo I put paperclips on the white styrofoam to get a plain background. I arranged the gray paperclips so they are surrounding the blue one. I wanted to convey how people will turn against someone else because they are different. In this case, the blue paperclip is different from the others. The gray ones are surrounding it and none of them go to join it and make friends. |

Turning a Different Direction |
For this photo I lined up multiple thumbtacks, all facing one direction. I turned the pink one so it faces the other direction. For this photo I wanted to convey something similar to my last photo. While everyone is doing the same thing, one thumbtack is doing it's own thing. It stands out from the crowd and is daring to be different. |
In this photo I put marbles in the indent of the bottom of a square shaped glass jar. It was difficult to get the marbles to be perfectly spaced, but I think it's good enough. I chose to use a black and orange marble to make a pop of color. I wanted to convey that it's hard to tell what color objects are when they're black and white. Even though these are mine, by looking at the photo I can't tell which marbles are which color. |

Rock Family |
For this photo I placed several polished rocks I had together. I used to be a big rock fan and collector when I was younger. I wanted to convey a family, as although the rocks are all different shapes and colors, they all seem to fit together nicely. This can represent my family, although we are all very different and have different ways of thinking, we all love each other and get along. (Except there are only 5 people in my immediate family.) |
For this photo I took multiple sewing pins and placed them together. Originally I was going to put more to make a full circle, but it got frustrating as the pins kept rolling around. I wanted to convey my two sisters and I (we are the red pins). I am very close with my sisters, but now one is in college and the other is a music teacher. However, we still keep close contact with each other as much as we can. |

Spools of Thread |
For this photo I used spools and bobbins of thread on styrofoam boards. I arranged them by stacking them on top of each other a bit. This image conveys sewing and making things. My mom and grandma used to do a lot of sewing, they made things like clothes and curtains. Now I have picked up some sewing skills, and I think the black and white of the photo shows how it's sort of been passed down through the family. |
To get this image I simply lined up some markers against a wood floor. I wanted to convey artistry and creative projects. Especially during the stay at home order, I've been doing a lot more projects to get my creative juices flowing. I chose to use the vibrant orange as the pop of color. I've noticed that with many of the photos I took, I chose orange as the pop of color. |
